Grades of wood (OAK Solid):

 

Select:  Wood of relatively unified natural colour with diversified grain. Sound knots to 8mm in diameter, dead knots to 3 mm. Sapwood on the bottom side not going through the top side is permitted. Cracks and shakes are not permitted. The features developed from wood’s biological structure, such as medullary ray or glance, are acceptable.

 

Standard (Nature): Wood of natural colour and diversified grain. Acceptable sound pin knots to 10 mm in diameter, dead knots to 5 mm. Sapwood on the bottom side going through, but not the recto is permitted. Cracks up to 1 mm in depth and shakes are permitted. The features developed from wood’s biological structure, such as medullary ray or glance, are acceptable.

 

Rustic: Wood of diversified colour and grain. Acceptable sound knots and knots aggregation to 25 mm in diameter. Sapwood and hardwood on the usage side is permitted.Superficial cracks up to 1 mm in depth and small shakes are allowed.

 

Grades of wood (ASH Solid):

 

Select:  Wood of relatively unified natural colour with diversified grain. Sound knots to 5mm in diameter. Sapwood on the bottom side not going through the top side is permitted. Cracks and shakes are not permitted.

 

Standard: Wood of varying colours characteristic of ash wood. Sound pin knots to 10 mm in diameter are acceptable. Sapwood on the bottom side going through, but not the recto is permitted. Cracks up to 1 mm in depth and shakes are permitted. The features developed from wood’s biological structure, such as medullary ray or glance, are acceptable.

Permissible appearance of up to 3% of defected elements pertaining to the classification of a degree lower than declared.
